New renderings have been released of an under-construction Louisville City FC stadium, providing an updated glimpse of the facility before its 2020 debut.
The current 2019 USL Championship season will be Louisville City FC’s last at Louisville Slugger Field, which the club has shared with Minor League Baseball’s Bats (Class AAA; International League) since it began play in 2015. After this season, the club is slated to move into a new soccer-specific stadium in the city’s Butchertown neighborhood, with the facility envisioned as an anchor for future mixed-use development in the surrounding area.
Under the current plans, the soccer-specific stadium will open with 11,700 fixed seats, with total capacity coming in at about 14,000. Several amenities will be featured within the venue, including fixed seating, along with luxury suites, loge seating, and safe-standing areas.
Recent updates indicate that the construction process is proceeding on schedule, and that the $65-million stadium project is coming in on budget. The facility will open next spring.
The joint venture Messer/Harmon JV is serving as construction contractor on the stadium project, while HOK was tapped by the club to handle the design.
