New Louisville City FC stadium plans are highlighted in a video from the club, showing a vision of what the facility will offer when it opens next year.
USL Championship’s Louisville City FC is currently playing what is slated to be its last season at Louisville Slugger Field–shared with Minor League Baseball’s Bats (Class AAA; International League)–before opening a new soccer-specific stadium in 2020. The new stadium is being built in Louisville’s Butchertown neighborhood, and is touted as the anchor of a planned 40-acre, $200 million mixed-use development.
To provide a glimpse of the new stadium, Louisville City FC released a video fly through on Wednesday. While showing the design and layout of the facility, the video also gives an early glimpse at some of the amenities planned for the stadium. It can be watched below:
Louisville City FC has been releasing more details on the new stadium of late, as it was announced last month that Levy will serve as the faclity’s hospitality partner. According to a press release issued by the club Wednesday, construction crews have, in the last month, “begun erecting the structural steel for the grandstands, placing the concrete for the lower seating areas and installing the foundations for the offices, locker rooms, club and mechanical rooms and all the restrooms.”
The stadium is being designed with an initial total of capacity of about 14,000, with the fixed seating capacity coming in at 11,700. The joint venture Messer/Harmon JV is serving as construction contractor.
