Key details on the plans for a new FC Cincinnati stadium are set to emerge Tuesday, when the club will unveil final design plans.
Slated for a 2021 opening, the new FC Cincinnati stadium is currently being constructed on the city’s West End. Throughout the planning process, the club has released some preliminary looks at the facility (such as the image above), but the final design has been a work in progress thus far.
That is expected to change Tuesday, however, when FC Cincinnati and stadium architect Populous reveal the final design plans. The announcement could bring some clarity to several aspects of the stadium, including its look and feel. More from the Cincinnati Enquirer:
The stadium is expected to be wrapped in ribbons of a plastics material that will emit an orange glow. It’s been much anticipated by fans, but Tuesday will be the first real look at how it will be incorporated into the design.
The April drawings also showed a two-story, glass-walled team store with space outside for a kids area on game days.
Previous renderings also show a canopy over every seat.
And FC Cincinnati President and General Manager Jeff Berding has publicly talked about a beer hall that would face in to the stadium and outward, as a way to integrate the stadium into the neighborhood. Though it has not been part of any previously released renderings.
FC Cincinnati will return to the University of Cincinnati’s Nippert Stadium for the 2020 MLS season, which is slated to be its last at the facility before the new West End stadium opens.
