Unveiled: New FC Cincinnati MLS West End Stadium Renderings

We have updated renderings for the new FC Cincinnati MLS West End stadium set to open in 2021, as the team updates fans with a new look.

These are the first renderings released by the MLS club since Kansas City sports architecture firm Populous took over design duties from Meis Architects. The new look softens the design of the original Meis plan, going for a lighter orange on the canopy, while also converting the facility from a stadium with open ends to full bowl. In addition, the use of ETFE (ethylene tetrafluoroethylene) as exterior wrapping is scaled back and is stressed as a canopy cover. Take a look.

The redesigned canopy now will cover every seat in the new FC Cincinnati MLS West End stadium. The canopy will work to keep light and sound both in the stadium–lessening the impact on the surrounding area.

The new design, part of a new light and sound study, has been submitted to the city.

The expansion squad will play at Nippert Stadium for the 2019 and 2020 seasons before the new FC Cincinnati MLS West End stadium opens for the 2021 MLS season.
