Nashville SC will stage two 2019 home matches at Nissan Stadium, giving a primer before MLS play begins at the facility next year.
USL Championship’s Nashville SC primarily plays matches at First Tennessee Park, the home of Minor League Baseball’s Sounds (Class AAA; Pacific Coast League). The club hosted a pair of matches at the much larger Nissan Stadium last season, however, including its inaugural home opener.
On Thursday, Nashville SC announced that it is moving two USL Championship home games to Nissan Stadium this season. The first will be a July 27 contest against Indy Eleven, while the second will come on October 12 against North Carolina FC. The North Carolina FC home match will fall during the regular season for the NFL’s Tennessee Titans, who are Nissan Stadium’s primary tenant, but comes on the same weekend that the Titans will face the Broncos in Denver.
Nashville SC will begin MLS play as an expansion club next season, marking the beginning of a temporary run at Nissan Stadium. Long-term facility plans call for Nashville SC to open a new soccer-specific stadium in 2022, so Nissan Stadium will serve as the club’s home for the 2020 and 2021 MLS seasons.
