Some future plans are becoming clearer, as information about the 2019 Hartford USL team and the renovation of Dillon Stadium will be announced on Thursday.
The USL will look dramatically different next season with the departure of FC Cincinnati and the addition of new teams, including El Paso and Hartford. In Hartford, the new USL team is set to play at venerable Dillon Stadium. To preview the 2019 Hartford USL team, Bruce Mandell (president / CEO of Hartford Sports Group, which will own the Hartford USL team) and USL President Jake Edwards will be at hand at a press conference at the Boys and Girls Club of Hartford.
The state bond commission has already approved $10 million in borrowing to fund some major work to the facility, including new seating, upgraded facilities, and a new turf. Once renovated, Dillon Stadium would begin hosting a USL club that is backed by the Hartford Sports Group.
