10,000 Fans Commit to Sacramento Republic FC MLS Season Tickets

Fans of Sacramento Republic FC have committed to purchasing at least 10,000 season tickets if the club is awarded MLS entry, according to its reporting.

With a December decision from MLS regarding expansion approaching, Republic FC has been lining up some key elements. The club began a citizen’s architect contest for its new stadium in September, and it recently announced that it had secured a binding MLS jersey sponsorship deal with UC Davis Health.

Republic FC has received strong support in the USL over the years, a trend that continued when the club averaged 11,569 fans per game in 2017 (second behind only FC Cincinnati). With this momentum, Republic FC could be in a position to carry its strong support over to MLS if its expansion bid is ultiamtely accepted. More from The Sacramento Bee:

Should an MLS award be announced, Tier 1 priority seating and placement in a new MLS stadium would first be granted to existing USL season ticket holders, followed by USL partial season ticket holders in a second tier, MLS deposit holders in a third tier, and lastly new inquiries should inventory allow.

The club plans to cap the number of season tickets in the new stadium to allow for stadium access to groups, such as local youth soccer clubs, and single-match sales. The downtown stadium is estimated to hold approximately 20,000 seats and tickets will start at $20 per match.

In our most recent MLS expansion odds, Sacramento Republic FC was one of the teams at the top, with its downtown stadium plan being one of its main advantages. MLS is expected to announce two expansion choices in December.
