Details emerge about new Orlando City stadium

Orlando City Soccer ClubSports fans are eagerly awaiting renderings of a new Orlando City stadium as the team preps for a 2015 MLS debut, but for now we’ll share some details about the stadium design.

This information is based on the proposed construction agreement that will be presented to the City Council, as reported by Channel 9’s Ryan Hughes. The new Orlando City stadium is set for a total capacity of over 18,000, including 2,500 club seats and 300 in several suites. In total, the stadium footprint will be 290,000 square feet, with 120,000 square feet in the seating bowl.

Besides the actual soccer pitch, the stadium will feature the usual fan amenities: bars, restaurants and team shops.

The new Orlando City stadium will be located in Orlando’s Parramore neighborhood, between downtown and the Citrus Bowl area.

The cost: $69 million for the stadium, and $15 million is needed for land and infrastructure costs. The design is from Populous.
