Phoenix Rising FC stadium to be moved to east side of Phoenix

The power of modular design at work: After two seasons at Wild Horse Pass at the Gila River Indian Community, the Phoenix Rising FC stadium will be dismantled and moved to an East Phoenix location adjacent to the Phoenix Park ’n Swap.

The move comes after the Phoenix City Council voted unanimously today to approve a multi-year lease of land for the Phoenix Rising FC stadium and professional soccer training facility for the USL Championship team at 3801 East Washington Street.

“Phoenix Rising is the ultimate fan experience attracting residents from all over the valley,” said Phoenix Councilmember Carlos Garcia via press release after the vote “Their move to Phoenix will not only centrally locate the stadium but also bring economic value to the city. I am thrilled to welcome them to District 8. I can’t wait to cheer them on alongside my family and District 8 residents.”

The capacity, look and feel of the club’s current stadium at Wild Horse Pass will be transferred to the new, more centrally located site in Phoenix during the offseason. Rising intends to host its 2023 home opener and season at the new site beginning in March 2023.

In addition to being centrally located and adjacent to Phoenix Park ‘n Swap, the new stadium site in Phoenix will provide Rising fans with abundant paved parking and light rail access directly to the stadium via the nearby Valley Metro Station light rail stop at 38th Street/GateWay Community College.

“This move will allow us to immediately upgrade our gameday fan experience, which has always been our top priority,” said Phoenix Rising FC Governor Bill Kraus via press release. “Accessibility to the site is excellent and there will be opportunities to create partnerships with the small businesses at Phoenix Park ‘n Swap. We have so much respect for the hundreds of business owners who operate there and the thousands of customers they serve every week.”

For the past two years, Phoenix Rising FC has played its home matches at Wild Horse Pass within the Gila River Indian Community. Prior to that the Phoenix Rising FC stadium was hosted by Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community.

“We are grateful for our partnership with the Gila River Indian Community and hope to continue working with them to allow thousands of children and visiting professional soccer teams to use the beautiful soccer fields we developed together at Wild Horse Pass,” said Kraus.
