New renderings for a planned Austin FC stadium have been released, showcasing several clubs and other facility amenities.
Set to be constructed at the city-owned McKalla Place in North Austin, the upcoming stadium is slated to open in 2021. The privately financed, $240 million facility will be home to Austin FC–a club backed by Anthony Precourt‘s Precourt Sports Ventures that will serve as MLS’s 27th team.
As planning for the stadium continues, Austin FC is releasing new design renderings. Among some of the highlights in the new design concepts are updated plans for the stadium’s interior, including a Supporter Section in the South end that will accommodate approximately 3,400 fans (shown below).
The new renderings also showcase clubs that will be included in the stadium. Plans for an East Club call for it to serve approximately 650 seats in the lower east stands, with all-inclusive food and beverage options and an exterior seating area offering views of surrounding greenspace. On non-matchdays, the space will be accessible for other events.
The facility’s West Club, meanwhile, is expected to serve approximately 1,500 members and offer all-inclusive food and beverage options with views of the pitch. It will also be available for private rentals on non-matchdays.
In addition, a Field Club will serve approximately 380 and provide direct access to field-level seats. Following a trend that has played out in recent stadium design, the area will provide a behind-the-scenes glimpse by being adjacent to the tunnel that players will use to go to and from the locker rooms.
Austin FC will begin a season-ticket deposit campaign on Wednesday, and Monday’s release of new renderings gave club officials an opportunity to showcase some intriguing plans for the facility. More from the Austin American-Statesman:
“We anticipate bringing on local food and beverage partners to help make that space come alive,” said Andy Loughnane, the president of Austin FC.
Images showed a larger roof that will cover all 20,500 seats, and a wide stadium screen that is now located centrally above the supporters stand.
Previous renderings had the screen offset toward the southwest corner. Another update is the redistribution of some seats from the east stand to the north and the west.
“We wanted to represent the variety that will be available,” Loughnane said. “They’re all different in look, feel and size.”
Austin FC has not begun construction on the stadium yet, though PSV has previously indicated that it would like to break ground on the venue in September. Additional renderings can be found below.
