San Antonio FC Reduces Toyota Field Concession Prices

USL Championship’s San Antonio FC (SAFC) has announced discounted prices for seven Toyota Field concession items, including food and drink options.

Seven items ranging from domestic draft beer to nachos will be available at a discounted rate all season.

SAFC will offer 16 oz. domestic draft beer for just $5, 24 oz. fountain sodas for $2.50, and bottled water for $3 while discounted food items include $3 nachos, $3 hot dogs, and a pretzel or popcorn for just $2.50 each.

“We have listened to the feedback from our fans during the offseason and are delighted to provide an array of discounted menu items,” SAFC Managing Director Tim Holt said. “Combined with our affordable ticket prices, this initiative enables San Antonio sports fans to enjoy a terrific event experience at a family-friendly price point.”

San Antonio FC will debut the new pricing, dubbed Fan Friendly Concession Pricing, as part of the opening match on Saturday, March 9 against Phoenix Rising FC at Toyota Field at 7:30 p.m local time.

Starting with the opening of Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium for the NFL’s Falcons and MLS’s United in 2017, the model of reducing concession prices for select items has become more widespread around professional sports. For operators, the idea behind this concept is that lower-priced concessions will lead to more purchases. In other words, selling an inexpensive hot dog, soda or chicken sandwich results in additional purchases of said inexpensive hot dogs, sodas or chicken sandwiches. Professional soccer has seen a few examples of this model implemented, and it has spread to other sports as well.
