Nashville SC to Host Atlanta United FC in Exhibition

Nashville SC

Nashville SC is planning a major contest for its 2018 exhibition slate, as the club will host MLS’s Atlanta United FC on February 10.

Months away from its inaugural USL season, Nashville SC has announced the exhbition against Atlanta. The game will take place at Nashville’s home, First Tennessee Park.

The matchup features one of the most exciting MLS clubs from 2017 with United making the playoffs in its expansion season while drawing record-setting crowds. United unleashed a potent offense in 2017, finishing as the second highest-scoring team in MLS last season with 70 goals in 34 matches.

“We want Nashville SC’s first-ever friendly match to be special for the club and memorable for the fans.  Hosting Atlanta United will certainly challenge our squad as we prepare for our inaugural season,” said Gary Smith, head coach of Nashville SC. “We are building a championship-caliber team and will put that to the test as we face a variety of top sides that will allow us to determine how our roster performs best in a variety of game situations.”

This is not the only USL/MLS matchup to have been confirmed for the 2018 preseason. Las Vegas Lights FC–another USL expansion club–has announced that it will host three February exhibition matchups against MLS squads at Cashman Field. Nashville and Las Vegas are among the clubs that will debut in the USL next year, joining Fresno FC,  North Carolina FC (from NASL), and a Gwinnett County, GA-based team owned and operated by Atlanta.
