With two sellouts in three games, Sacramento Republic FC is building a some serious momentum after a second sellout at Hughes Stadium in three matches.
A crowd of 20,231 showed up for a USL Pro match against LA Galaxy II, the reserve team for LA Galaxy.
For soccer organizers in Sacramento, the outpouring of support must be gratifying, albeit a little frustrating. Hughes Stadium is a temporary home for Sacramento Republic FC: the field is not a regulation pitch, and the team is planning a move to 8,000-seat Bonney Stadium on the Cal Expo grounds in a few weeks. It will be painful to lose 12,000 fans per game, but the forces of supply and demand should push interest further, and provide some more ammunition to a move to MLS in coming years.
