Victoria Block will be the name of a new safe-standing supporters’ section being installed by LA Galaxy, with a debut at Dignity Health Sports Park set for 2020.
LA Galaxy Supporters’ groups, including Angel City Brigade, Galaxians and the Galaxy Outlawz announced the name. The renovated area, which pays homage to the bordering Victoria Street on the north side of Dignity Health Sports Park, will provide safe-standing for multiple supporters’ groups of the LA Galaxy.
“Over the past few seasons, Angel City Brigade and the Galaxians have been in discussions and initial planning stages to do the same chants and drums in the north end of the stadium,” said Victoria Block leadership. “With the LA Galaxy committed to providing safe standing and the inclusion of new supporter group Galaxy Outlawz, Victoria Block will provide a unified supporters section in the north end of the Dignity Health Sports Park that will be unrivaled in MLS.”
Victoria Block, occupied by LA Galaxy official supporters’ groups Angel City Brigade, Galaxians and the Galaxy Outlawz, is a part of a multi-year plan to enhance fan and supporter experience at Dignity Health Sports Park. That plan also includes the installation of additional bars on the North concourse and additional premium seating areas in the coming years.
To get the first look at Victoria Block, the LA Galaxy will host an open training for the Los Angeles community at Dignity Health Sports Park on Saturday, Feb. 8. The community open training will allow soccer fans to get their first look at the 2020 LA Galaxy. Fans will enter through the Supporter Tailgate areas, see Victoria Block for the first time and enjoy a post-training BBQ with players, coaches and club alumni.
“It is paramount that we continue to invest in resources at Dignity Health Sports Park that benefit our supporters,” said LA Galaxy President Chris Klein. “A unified, safe-standing supporters’ section will give our fans the platform to showcase their passion and support for this club. We can’t wait for the debut of Victoria Block for the 2020 season.”
“Our players thrive off of our crowd during games,” said LA Galaxy General Manager Dennis te Kloese. “Having a unified supporters’ section at our stadium will only help our club on the field. The team is excited to have the support from the multiple supporters’ groups that will make up Victoria Block.”
Victoria Block will be comprised of what is currently sections 120-123 at Dignity Health Sports Park. The LA Galaxy also recently added dedicated supporters’ tailgate areas just outside the North end of Dignity Health Sports Park.
The renovations come after multi-million dollar investments to various aspects of Dignity Health Sports Park within the last year, including brand-new sound speaker systems, LA Galaxy HQ and the creation of Legends Plaza.
Additionally, the LA Galaxy and AEG have invested over $35M to improving Dignity Health Sports Park since 2014, including installing the largest videoboard of any soccer-specific stadium in Major League Soccer, installing a new 20×52 LED videoboard, state-of-the-art LED ribbon boards and upgrading suites throughout the stadium. Additionally, club seats in sections 110-112 were upgraded, and tip-up seats were added to the upper sideline sections of the stadium.
