New for 2018: Las Vegas Lights FC

Las Vegas Lights FC

We have a name for Las Vegas‘ new USL club, as the moniker Las Vegas Lights FC was unveiled on Tuesday.

Set to begin play next year, Las Vegas Lights FC will host its home matches at Cashman Field, the longtime facility for baseball’s Las Vegas 51s (Class AAA; Pacific Coast League). The club took a major step toward its debut on Tuesday morning, when owner Brett Lashbrook took part in unveiling the organization’s identity.

While this was a key point in finalizing the team’s branding, fans will have the opportunity to help design the club’s logo. More from LasVegasNow.com:

“This soccer team is for the people, by the people, of the people,” said Lashbrook, looking positively giddy as he discussed the team’s outreach to Las Vegas soccer fans.  “The people helped suggest the team name, they helped pick the team name, and now we want people to help design the logo.”

Ideas and concepts can be submitted at LasVegasLightsFC.com now through Tuesday, September 8th.  The club’s website says users should give ideas for shields, badges, wordmarks, fonts, symbols, and colors.  You can submit a rough draft rendering and the team will refine the winning designs.

Las Vegas Lights FC beat out five other candidates in a name-the-team contest, including Club Vegas, Las Vegas Action, Las Vegas FC,  Las Vegas Silver, and Viva Vegas. The club is one of three expansion entries confirmed to begin play in the USL next season, joining Nashville SC and Fresno FC.
