FC Cincinnati Sets New Single-Game Attendance Record

FC Cincinnati opener

FC Cincinnati managed to outdo itself on Saturday, when it attracted a single-game attendance record of 25,308 fans to Nippert Stadium.

Since beginning play last year, the club has developed a reputation for bringing fans out in droves, and Saturday’s achievement reflected that trend. The mark of 25,308 not only set a new single-game attendance record for the USL, but represented another major achievement for FC Cincinnat. Prior to Saturday, the USL single-game attendance record was 24,376–a high mark set by FC Cincinnati when it faced Orlando City B in a match on September 17, 2016.

Saturday’s match, also against Orlando, proved to be one of the major highlights of the weekend in North American soccer. More from USLsoccer.com:

That was only part of the story on the night, though. With 29 professional games across the United States and Canada on Saturday night – the most in a single day in history – FCC’s attendance topped the list across all four professional leagues.

“I think tonight, with the high attendance, says so much about our city and what our club is continuing to do,” said FCC Head Coach Alan Koch. “You have everyone from college kids, to families, all around and we are just humbled by this support. This is so special and to have the fans stay through until the end was great. I’m happy to have shared a moment like that with everyone at Nippert.”

Overall, FC Cincinnati has seen strong fan support in 2017. Including Saturday’s record-breaking match, the club has averaged 20,466 fans per-game through 13 contests, and has an overall attendance figure of 266,063.
