09/09/2008 6:32 AM - Billed as MLS Rally Night, Sunday night's Vancouver Whitecaps game drew thousands of fans wanting to see the team move from United Soccer Leagues to Major League Soccer.

Whether it will convince MLS officials to grant an expansion franchise to the Vancouver ownership remains to be seen. The rally, however, did serve to highlight the desire from many fans to see a higher level of soccer play -- and it may have helped the Whitecaps ownership in their bid to land a new downtown stadium.
