Djorn Buchholz named first president of Louisville City FC

Djorn Buchholz

Djorn Buchholz, with 13 years of experience in MLS, USL and NASL team front offices, is the new president of Louisville City FC, which begins play next season.

Buchholz comes to Louisville from Sporting KC, where he was director of fan experience. Before that he served in the front offices of the NASL’s Minnesota Thunder, the Premier Development League’s Austin Aztex and the NASL’s Minnesota Stars.

“I want to thank the Louisville City FC ownership group for recognizing the soccer possibilities in Louisville and giving me this opportunity,” Buchholz said in a news release. “As a team, and as a front office, we will be dedicated to making Louisville City FC an integral part of the community and to continuing the winning tradition of this franchise. I can’t wait to meet The Coopers and all of the fans that will help us create a model franchise for USL Pro.”

The Coopers is a fan group expected to turn out in loud droves to support Louisville City. The team will launch at Louisville Slugger Field, home of the Triple-A Louisville Bats.
