Though the opening of a new Orlando City stadium is scheduled for February 2016, team officials say they plan on playing the second half of the 2015 season at the new facility.
The 2016 opening is being pitched as a worst-case scenario by team officials, who say a midseason move from ESPN’s Wide World of Sports is in the planning stages, per the Orlando Sentinel:
“We are moving full speed ahead,” Orlando City team executive Brett Lashbrook said. “We are working nonstop to have this stadium ready to go.”
